Summary of the House Committee Version of the Bill

SCS SB 1197 -- REGIONAL RECREATIONAL DISTRICTS

SPONSOR: Quick

COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass" by the Committee on Elections
by a vote of 10 to 0.

This substitute provides that a regional recreational district
board of directors be elected in Clay County rather than
appointed by the county commission.

FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds in FY 2005, FY 2006, and
FY 2007.

PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the district has not been able
to pass levies for operating the district because an appointed
board is not accountable, and the board members want to be
elected.

Testifying for the bill was Senator Quick.

OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
